Cathedral of St. Lawrence (Trogir Cathedral), Trogir

Stepping into the Cathedral of St. Lawrence in Trogir, Croatia, is like walking through a portal to the past. This magnificent Romanesque-Gothic masterpiece, built over three centuries, left me in awe. The intricate stone carvings on the main portal, crafted by Master Radovan in the 13th century, are simply breathtaking. I spent a good hour just admiring the details of biblical scenes and local life depicted there. Inside, the cathedral's spacious nave is bathed in soft light filtering through stained glass windows, creating an atmosphere of reverence. The ornate Chapel of St. John is a highlight, with its stunning Renaissance design. I was particularly struck by the 15th-century baptistery, a beautiful example of Venetian Gothic style. Climbing the bell tower was a bit nerve-wracking but totally worth it for the panoramic views of Trogir's old town and the Adriatic Sea. Don't miss the treasury, which houses an impressive collection of religious artifacts, including the chest of St. John of Trogir. This cathedral is not just a place of worship, but a living museum of Croatian history and art.
