Abijatta-Shalla National Park is_located_at Ethiopia. visiting Abijatta-Shalla National Park in Ethiopia Abijatta-Shalla National Park is one of the top attractions in Ethiopia.

Nestled in Ethiopia's Great Rift Valley, Abijatta-Shalla National Park is a hidden gem that left me in awe. The park's centerpiece is its two stunning alkaline lakes, Abijatta and Shalla, which are a sight to behold. As I approached Lake Shalla, I was struck by its deep blue waters, surrounded by steep crater walls. It's one of the deepest lakes in Ethiopia, and the sight of flamingos dotting its shores was simply magical. Lake Abijatta, in contrast, is much shallower and saltier, attracting an incredible variety of waterbirds. I spent hours watching pelicans, storks, and various species of ducks and geese. The park's landscape is diverse, with acacia woodlands and grasslands providing habitat for ostriches, gazelles, and warthogs. I was lucky enough to spot a few greater kudus during my visit. The hot springs near Lake Shalla were a unique experience, with steam rising from the ground creating an otherworldly atmosphere. Despite some challenges with park management, the raw beauty of this place is undeniable. It's a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers, offering a less crowded alternative to some of Ethiopia's more famous parks.
