Mt. Entoto, Addis Ababa

As I stood atop Mt. Entoto, I was struck by the breathtaking panoramic views of Addis Ababa sprawling below. This historic mountain, rising to 3,200 meters, offers a refreshing escape from the bustling city. The winding road up is an adventure in itself, lined with eucalyptus trees that fill the air with their invigorating scent. At the summit, I explored the Entoto Maryam Church, a significant religious site where Emperor Menelik II was crowned. The nearby museum houses fascinating artifacts from this era. The mountain's slopes are perfect for hiking and mountain biking, with trails offering varying levels of difficulty. I particularly enjoyed watching local athletes training at high altitude, their determination palpable in the thin air. The cool climate is a welcome relief from Addis Ababa's heat, though I'd recommend bringing a jacket as it can get chilly. As the sun began to set, the city lights below started to twinkle, creating a magical atmosphere that made me appreciate the unique perspective Mt. Entoto provides of Ethiopia's capital.
