As I wandered through the narrow cobblestone streets, I was enveloped by the aroma of freshly baked bread and strong Turkish coffee. The bazaar is a maze of small shops and stalls, each offering unique treasures. I found myself captivated by the colorful displays of handwoven carpets, intricate silver filigree jewelry, and vibrant traditional clothing. The sound of craftsmen at work, hammering copper and carving wood, added to the authentic atmosphere. What struck me most was the blend of cultures evident in the architecture. Ottoman-era mosques stand alongside Byzantine churches, a testament to the bazaar's rich history. I couldn't resist stopping at a small café to sample some local delicacies, including the mouthwatering burek and sweet baklava.
