Black Island (Kara Ada), Turkish Riviera

As I approached Black Island, or Kara Ada as the locals call it, I was struck by its rugged beauty. This small, uninhabited island off the coast of Bodrum, Turkey, is a hidden gem in the Aegean Sea. The island gets its name from the dark volcanic rocks that dominate its landscape, creating a stark contrast against the turquoise waters surrounding it. The main attraction is undoubtedly the thermal springs, which bubble up from the seabed, creating warm pools perfect for a relaxing soak. I spent hours alternating between these natural hot tubs and the refreshing sea. The island's beaches, while pebbly, are secluded and peaceful. Snorkeling here is a must, as the crystal-clear waters reveal a vibrant underwater world. I was amazed by the variety of fish and even spotted some ancient pottery fragments on the seabed. For the more adventurous, there are hiking trails that lead to panoramic viewpoints. From the highest point, I could see all the way to the Turkish mainland and neighboring Greek islands. It's a perfect day trip destination, offering a tranquil escape from the bustling tourist spots of Bodrum.
