As I approached, I was struck by its impressive double-deck arch structure, a true marvel of 19th-century engineering. The bridge connects Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia, and offers breathtaking views of both cities and the river below. I decided to walk across the upper deck, reserved for pedestrians and the metro. The experience was exhilarating, with panoramic vistas of the colorful Ribeira district on one side and the port wine cellars of Gaia on the other. The lower deck, bustling with cars and pedestrians, adds to the bridge's lively atmosphere. What fascinated me most was how the bridge seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetic beauty. Its intricate ironwork and graceful curve create a picturesque silhouette against the sky, especially stunning at sunset when the structure is beautifully illuminated.
