Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg, Strasbourg

Perched atop the Vosges Mountains in Alsace, the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg is a sight to behold. As I approached, its imposing silhouette against the sky took my breath away. This medieval castle, meticulously restored in the early 20th century, offers a fascinating glimpse into history. Walking through its gates, I felt transported back in time. The inner courtyard is impressive, surrounded by thick stone walls and adorned with intricate carvings. Inside, the rooms are beautifully furnished, giving a real sense of how life might have been for the castle's inhabitants. The Great Hall is particularly stunning, with its high ceilings and grand fireplace. But the true highlight for me was the panoramic view from the ramparts. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Black Forest and even the Alps! The castle also houses an interesting museum with artifacts from its long history.
