The air is thick with history and the scent of spices from nearby markets. The Coptic Christian quarter is a highlight, with its beautiful churches and monasteries. I was awestruck by the Hanging Church, built atop the gates of an old Roman fortress. Its intricate wooden roof and marble pulpit are simply stunning. Nearby, the Ben Ezra Synagogue stands as a testament to the area's religious diversity. Legend has it that this is where baby Moses was found. As I wandered through the streets, I stumbled upon the Coptic Museum, housing the world's largest collection of Coptic Christian artifacts. The Islamic quarter is equally fascinating, with the Mosque of Amr ibn al-As, the first mosque built in Egypt, being a must-visit. The atmosphere in Old Cairo is unlike anywhere else – it's a place where past and present seamlessly blend, offering visitors a truly unique and unforgettable experience.
