El Rosario Church (Iglesia El Rosario), San Salvador

As I approached El Rosario Church in San Salvador, I was struck by its unique modern design. The exterior, with its curved concrete roof, resembles a giant arch or tunnel. Stepping inside, I was immediately awestruck by the breathtaking play of light and color. The church's most striking feature is undoubtedly its stained glass roof, which bathes the interior in a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues. The effect is truly mesmerizing, especially on a sunny day when the colors dance across the walls and floor. The altar area is simple yet powerful, with a large cross as the focal point. I was fascinated to learn that the church was designed by sculptor Rubén Martínez, explaining its artistic and unconventional appearance. Despite its modern look, there's a serene and spiritual atmosphere inside. The acoustics are impressive too, and I can only imagine how beautiful music must sound here. Don't miss the small museum in the basement, which houses some interesting religious artifacts and provides context about the church's history and design.
