White Mountains (Lefka Ori), Crete

As I stood atop the rugged peaks of the White Mountains, or Lefka Ori as the locals call them, I was struck by the raw beauty of Crete's most impressive mountain range. The traditional mountain villages scattered throughout the range provided a glimpse into authentic Cretan life, with warm hospitality and delicious local cuisine.
