Stepping into the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture is like traveling back in time to the ancient Champa Kingdom. The museum's impressive collection of over 300 sandstone and terracotta sculptures dates from the 7th to the 15th centuries, offering a fascinating glimpse into the artistic and cultural heritage of the Cham people. As I wandered through the exhibits, I was struck by the intricate details and expressive faces of the statues, many of which depict Hindu deities and mythological scenes. The museum's French colonial architecture adds to its charm, with high ceilings and large windows that allow natural light to illuminate the artifacts. One of the highlights is the massive Tra Kieu altar, adorned with scenes from the epic Ramayana. The outdoor garden is a peaceful oasis, featuring larger sculptures set among lush greenery. What impressed me most was how well-preserved and well-presented the pieces are, with informative placards in both Vietnamese and English. It's a must-visit for anyone interested in Southeast Asian history and art, providing a unique perspective on a civilization that once thrived in central Vietnam.
