Stepping into the Lingering Garden is like entering a living painting. This UNESCO World Heritage site in Suzhou is a masterpiece of classical Chinese garden design. As I wandered through its winding paths, I was struck by the perfect harmony of nature and architecture. The garden is divided into four distinct areas, each with its own charm. The central part features a stunning man-made lake surrounded by elegant pavilions and rockeries. I spent hours exploring the intricate layout, discovering hidden nooks and tranquil spots at every turn. The bonsai collection is particularly impressive, with some trees over 300 years old. What I found most captivating was how the garden changes with each season – from delicate cherry blossoms in spring to fiery maples in autumn. The clever use of borrowed scenery, where distant views are incorporated into the garden's design, creates an illusion of endless space. Don't miss the Gui Yunlou Pavilion, a multi-story structure offering panoramic views. The Lingering Garden truly lives up to its name – I found myself reluctant to leave, enchanted by its timeless beauty and serene atmosphere.
