Perched on a small rocky island just off the coast of Maine, Cape Neddick Nubble Lighthouse is a sight to behold. As I approached, the iconic white tower with its red roof stood proudly against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse, built in 1879, still serves as an active aid to navigation and is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the United States. I was struck by its picturesque setting, surrounded by crashing waves and rugged coastline. Although visitors can't access the island itself, the nearby Sohier Park offers stunning views and excellent photo opportunities. I spent hours watching the lighthouse, mesmerized by its timeless beauty and the ever-changing sea around it. The gift shop at the park provided interesting historical information and unique souvenirs. As the sun began to set, the lighthouse took on a magical quality, its beacon cutting through the twilight. It's easy to see why this place has captured the hearts of so many visitors over the years.
