Kim Bong (Carpentry Village), Hoi An

Nestled on the banks of the Thu Bon River, Kim Bong Carpentry Village is a hidden gem that offers a fascinating glimpse into Vietnam's rich artisanal heritage. As I wandered through the narrow streets, the rhythmic sound of chisels and hammers filled the air, a testament to the village's 400-year-old woodworking tradition. The skilled artisans here create everything from intricate furniture to massive fishing boats, their craftsmanship truly awe-inspiring. I was particularly captivated by the ornate carvings adorning many of the village's buildings, each telling a story of Vietnam's cultural past. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the hands-on workshop, where I tried my hand at wood carving under the patient guidance of a master craftsman.
