Hassan Tower (Tour Hassan), Rabat

Standing tall against the Rabat skyline, Hassan Tower is a magnificent sight to behold. This incomplete minaret, part of an ambitious 12th-century project, is a testament to Morocco's rich history. As I approached, I was struck by its imposing red sandstone structure, rising 44 meters high. The intricate geometric patterns adorning its facades are simply mesmerizing. Surrounding the tower is a vast esplanade, dotted with dozens of ornate marble columns, remnants of what was meant to be the world's largest mosque. The unfinished nature of the site adds to its allure, sparking imagination about what could have been. Nearby, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V provides a stunning contrast with its modern Moroccan architecture. The site offers breathtaking views of the Bouregreg River and neighboring Salé. Watching the sunset here, with the tower casting long shadows across the grounds, was truly unforgettable. Despite its incomplete state, Hassan Tower remains a powerful symbol of Moroccan heritage and a must-visit attraction in Rabat.
