Puritama Hot Springs (Termas Baños de Puritama), San Pedro de Atacama

Nestled in the heart of the Atacama Desert, Puritama Hot Springs is a hidden oasis that takes your breath away. As I approached, I was struck by the stark contrast between the arid landscape and the lush vegetation surrounding the springs. The eight natural pools are fed by geothermal waters, each maintaining a perfect temperature of around 33°C (91°F). The crystal-clear turquoise water invites you to soak and relax, while the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains create a sense of serenity. What impressed me most was the eco-friendly infrastructure - wooden walkways and changing rooms blend seamlessly with the environment. The mineral-rich waters are said to have healing properties, and I certainly felt rejuvenated after my visit. It's worth noting that the altitude (3,500 meters above sea level) can affect some visitors, so it's best to acclimatize before your trip. The tranquil atmosphere and the soothing sound of the flowing water make Puritama Hot Springs a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Don't forget to bring water shoes, as the rocky bottom can be slippery!
