Stepping into Colo-i-Suva Forest Park is like entering a lush, green paradise. Just a short drive from Suva, this 650-hectare rainforest offers a refreshing escape from the city's hustle and bustle. As I wandered along the well-maintained trails, the sounds of exotic birds and rustling leaves created a soothing symphony. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the series of natural swimming pools fed by cascading waterfalls. The cool, crystal-clear water was irresistible on a warm day, and I couldn't help but take a dip. The park is also a haven for birdwatchers, with over 14 species of native birds to spot. I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the vibrant Fiji parrotfinch. For the more adventurous, there are opportunities for zip-lining through the forest canopy, offering a thrilling perspective of the lush surroundings. The park's rich history as a mahogany plantation adds an interesting layer to its natural beauty. With its diverse flora, including towering hardwood trees and delicate orchids, Colo-i-Suva is a testament to Fiji's incredible biodiversity and a must-visit for nature lovers.
