Lotus Mahal, Hampi

As I approached the Lotus Mahal, I was immediately struck by its unique blend of Islamic and Hindu architectural styles. This stunning two-story pavilion, located within the Zenana Enclosure of Hampi, is a testament to the artistic vision of the Vijayanagara Empire. The structure's name comes from its lotus-like dome, which is truly a sight to behold. As I walked closer, I noticed the intricate carvings and designs adorning the walls and pillars. The ground floor features open, arched halls that offer a cool respite from the heat, while the upper floor boasts beautiful balconies with ornate railings. What fascinated me most was the ingenious cooling system - a network of pipes that once carried water through the structure to keep it cool. Standing there, I could almost imagine the royal women who once used this pavilion as their recreational area.
