Camino de las Altas Cumbres, Córdoba

As I wound my way along the Camino de las Altas Cumbres, I was struck by the sheer magnificence of Argentina's Córdoba province. This scenic mountain road stretches for about 100 kilometers, offering breathtaking views at every turn. The journey begins in the charming town of Mina Clavero and climbs steadily to reach its highest point at Cerro Los Gigantes, standing at an impressive 2,374 meters above sea level. The landscape transforms dramatically as you ascend, from lush green valleys to rugged, rocky terrain. One of the most memorable spots along the route is the Mirador del Cóndor, where, if you're lucky, you might spot Andean condors soaring overhead. The road itself is a marvel of engineering, with sharp switchbacks and steep inclines that make for an exhilarating drive. Despite the challenging terrain, the road is well-maintained and suitable for most vehicles. Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to stop and take in the panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The air becomes noticeably cooler and crisper as you climb, adding to the sense of adventure.
