Torre del Oro, Seville

Standing majestically on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, the Torre del Oro is a true icon of Seville. As I approached this 12th-century watchtower, I was struck by its golden hue, which gives it its name - "Tower of Gold." The tower's unique dodecagonal shape and Moorish architecture immediately caught my eye. Climbing to the top, I was rewarded with breathtaking views of Seville's historic center and the winding river below. Inside, I discovered a small but fascinating naval museum, showcasing the city's maritime history. The exhibits brought to life Seville's role in the discovery of the Americas and its golden age of trade. What I found most intriguing were the ancient maps and navigation instruments on display. As the sun began to set, the tower took on a magical glow, living up to its golden nickname. It's easy to see why this historic landmark has become such a beloved symbol of Seville, standing as a testament to the city's rich and diverse cultural heritage.
