As I approached the Mosta Dome, I was immediately struck by its sheer size and grandeur. This magnificent church, officially known as the Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady, dominates the skyline of Mosta, Malta. The dome's massive structure is truly awe-inspiring, and I learned that it's one of the largest unsupported domes in the world. Inside, the interior is equally impressive, with its ornate decorations and beautiful frescoes. The most fascinating part of my visit was hearing about the miraculous event during World War II when a bomb pierced the dome but failed to explode, leaving the congregation unharmed. You can still see a replica of the bomb on display. The acoustics inside are remarkable, and I was lucky enough to hear the organ being played during my visit. The Mosta Dome is not just a religious site, but a testament to Maltese faith, resilience, and architectural prowess. It's definitely a must-see for anyone visiting Malta, whether you're interested in history, architecture, or simply want to experience a truly remarkable building.
