As I approached York Minster, its magnificent Gothic architecture took my breath away. This awe-inspiring cathedral dominates the skyline of York, its twin towers reaching towards the heavens. Stepping inside, I was immediately struck by the sheer scale of the interior. The soaring vaulted ceilings and intricate stone carvings are a testament to medieval craftsmanship. The Great East Window, the largest expanse of medieval stained glass in the world, bathes the nave in a kaleidoscope of colors. I was particularly fascinated by the undercroft, where you can see the remains of the Roman fortress that once stood on this site. The Central Tower offers panoramic views of York for those willing to climb its 275 steps. During my visit, I was lucky enough to hear the choir practicing, their angelic voices echoing through the vast space. The Minster's rich history is palpable, from its Viking connections to its role in coronations.
