Hondarribia, Biarritz

Nestled on the Spanish-French border, Hondarribia is a hidden gem that captivated me from the moment I arrived. This charming Basque coastal town boasts a stunning blend of history and modernity. As I wandered through the cobblestone streets of the old town, I was transported back in time by the colorful medieval houses and imposing stone walls. The Plaza de Armas, with its panoramic views of the bay, took my breath away. I spent hours exploring the narrow alleys, each turn revealing a new surprise – from quaint boutiques to inviting pintxos bars. The Marina neighborhood offered a different vibe, with its modern restaurants and lively atmosphere. I couldn't resist indulging in the local seafood, especially the grilled turbot, a true delicacy. The pristine sandy beach was perfect for relaxation, and I even tried my hand at surfing. What struck me most about Hondarribia was its authenticity – despite being a tourist destination, it has managed to preserve its Basque character and traditions.
