Gourdon, Cannes

Perched atop a rocky outcrop in the French Riviera, Gourdon is a breathtaking medieval village that seems to defy gravity. As I approached, the sight of its stone houses clinging to the cliff edge left me awestruck. The village's elevated position offers panoramic views of the Gorges du Loup and the Mediterranean Sea that are simply unforgettable. Wandering through Gourdon's narrow, winding streets feels like stepping back in time. The well-preserved architecture, with its honey-colored stone buildings and charming shutters, exudes authentic Provençal charm. The village's centerpiece is the 12th-century Château de Gourdon, which houses an impressive collection of decorative arts. I was particularly captivated by the castle's meticulously manicured gardens, designed by the renowned André Le Nôtre. Gourdon is also famous for its artisanal perfumeries and workshops, where I watched skilled craftsmen create beautiful glassware. The village's quaint cafes and restaurants offer delicious local cuisine, and I couldn't resist trying the regional specialties like socca and pissaladière. Despite its small size, Gourdon left a big impression on me with its timeless beauty and serene atmosphere.
