Milford Sound, Te Anau

Milford Sound is a breathtaking natural wonder that left me in awe from the moment I arrived. The sheer scale of the landscape is overwhelming, with towering cliffs rising dramatically from the dark waters. Waterfalls cascade down the rock faces, some plummeting over 1,000 feet. The most famous, Stirling Falls, is simply mesmerizing. As our boat cruised through the fjord, I was struck by the lush rainforest clinging to the steep slopes and the ever-changing play of light and shadow. We were lucky enough to spot fur seals basking on the rocks and playful dolphins swimming alongside us. The highlight was undoubtedly Mitre Peak, its distinctive shape dominating the skyline. The misty atmosphere added an air of mystery, with clouds drifting between the peaks. Despite the occasional rain shower, which only enhanced the ethereal beauty, I found myself captivated by this untamed wilderness. The journey to Milford Sound is an adventure in itself, winding through stunning alpine scenery.
