As I stood at the viewpoint, the sheer power of Howick Falls left me in awe. This 95-meter-high waterfall is truly a sight to behold, cascading dramatically over the cliff face into the Umgeni River below. The locals call it KwaNogqaza, meaning "Place of the Tall One," and it's easy to see why. The mist rising from the base creates a mystical atmosphere, especially in the early morning light. I was fascinated by the Zulu legend of the serpent-like creature said to inhabit the pool at the bottom. The surrounding area offers excellent hiking trails, and I enjoyed a picnic in the nearby park while admiring the falls. For the adventurous, there's even a zip line experience that gives you a thrilling perspective of the falls. The small town of Howick itself is charming, with craft shops and cafes to explore.
