Plaza Botero, Medellín

As I stepped into Plaza Botero, I was immediately struck by the sheer grandeur of the space. This vibrant square in the heart of Medellín is a true feast for the eyes, showcasing 23 magnificent bronze sculptures by Colombia's most famous artist, Fernando Botero. The oversized, voluptuous figures are instantly recognizable, their exaggerated proportions both whimsical and thought-provoking. I found myself circling the plaza, marveling at each unique piece – from reclining women to playful animals. The sculptures are perfectly complemented by the surrounding architecture, including the striking Palacio de la Cultura with its black and white facade. What I loved most was the lively atmosphere; locals and tourists alike were snapping photos, picnicking on the grass, or simply enjoying the sunshine. As the day progressed, I watched the plaza transform, the sculptures casting long shadows and taking on a different character in the golden hour light.
