Nestled in the shadow of Mount Meru, Arusha National Park is a hidden gem often overlooked by safari-goers. As I wandered through this diverse landscape, I was struck by its lush forests, sparkling lakes, and grassy meadows. The park may be small, but it packs a punch with its incredible variety of wildlife and stunning scenery. I was thrilled to spot black and white colobus monkeys swinging through the trees and elegant flamingos wading in the shallow waters of Momella Lakes. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the breathtaking view of Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day, its snow-capped peak rising majestically in the distance. While you won't find lions or elephants here, the park offers a unique opportunity to explore on foot with a ranger, getting up close to giraffes, zebras, and buffalo. The Ngurdoto Crater, often called "Little Ngorongoro," is a sight to behold with its steep, rocky cliffs and lush floor teeming with wildlife. For adventure seekers, the challenging hike up Mount Meru offers stunning views and a chance to spot rarely seen forest creatures. Arusha National Park may be small, but it's a perfect introduction to Tanzania's natural wonders.
