Fort du Mont Alban, Villefranche-sur-Mer

Perched atop a hill overlooking the French Riviera, Fort du Mont Alban is a hidden gem that offers breathtaking panoramic views of Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer, and the Mediterranean Sea. As I approached the fort, I was struck by its imposing 16th-century architecture, a testament to its strategic importance in defending the coastline. I was fascinated to learn about its use during World War II as an observation post. The peaceful atmosphere and lack of crowds make it a perfect spot for quiet contemplation or a picnic with an unbeatable backdrop. As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the landscape, I couldn't help but feel grateful for discovering this off-the-beaten-path treasure.
