Rasnov Fortress (Cetatea Rasnov), Brasov

Perched atop a rocky hilltop in the Carpathian Mountains, Rasnov Fortress is a breathtaking sight that transports you back in time. As I approached the imposing stone walls, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at this medieval marvel. The fortress, built in the 14th century, served as a refuge for local villagers during times of siege. Walking through the well-preserved ruins, I was struck by the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The inner courtyard is a peaceful oasis, with remnants of old houses and a deep well that legend says took 17 years to dig. I explored the various rooms and corridors, imagining life within these walls centuries ago. The on-site museum offers fascinating insights into the fortress's history and the daily lives of its inhabitants. One of the highlights was climbing to the top of the observation tower, where I was rewarded with stunning vistas of the Transylvanian countryside. As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the ancient stones, I realized why Rasnov Fortress is considered one of Romania's most picturesque and historically significant attractions.
