White Tower (Turnul Alb), Brasov

Perched atop a hill overlooking the charming city of Brasov, the White Tower (Turnul Alb) stands as a testament to medieval ingenuity and defensive prowess. As I climbed the steep path leading to this cylindrical fortress, I couldn't help but marvel at its imposing presence. The tower's brilliant white walls, which give it its name, contrast beautifully against the lush green surroundings. Upon reaching the entrance, I was struck by the tower's impressive height of 18 meters and its sturdy construction. Inside, the cool stone interior offers a welcome respite from the summer heat. The spiral staircase, though narrow, leads to various levels where you can explore the tower's history through informative displays. The real treat, however, awaits at the top. The panoramic view of Brasov is simply breathtaking, with the city's red-tiled roofs sprawling below and the Carpathian Mountains looming in the distance. It's easy to imagine medieval guards keeping watch from this vantage point. The White Tower, along with the nearby Black Tower, formed a crucial part of Brasov's defense system, and today it stands as a proud reminder of the city's rich past.
