Mikumi National Park, Morogoro Region

As I stepped into Mikumi National Park, I was immediately struck by the vastness of its golden savannah. The landscape stretched as far as the eye could see, dotted with acacia trees and baobabs. Wildlife encounters here are truly breathtaking. I watched in awe as herds of elephants lumbered across the plains, their massive forms silhouetted against the setting sun. Zebras and wildebeest grazed peacefully, while giraffes elegantly plucked leaves from treetops. The park's proximity to the Selous Game Reserve means you might spot some of Africa's most iconic predators too – I was lucky enough to see a pride of lions lounging in the shade. Bird enthusiasts will be thrilled by the variety of species, from colorful rollers to majestic eagles. The Mkata Floodplain is a particular highlight, especially during the dry season when animals congregate around water sources. Don't miss the chance to visit Hippo Pool, where these enormous creatures wallow and snort.
