Green Vault (Grünes Gewölbe), Dresden

Stepping into the Green Vault is like entering a treasure trove of unimaginable riches. Located in Dresden's Royal Palace, this museum houses one of Europe's most spectacular collections of jewels and precious objects. As I wandered through the rooms, I was awestruck by the sheer opulence on display. The Historic Green Vault is a series of ornate chambers, each more dazzling than the last, showcasing over 3,000 masterpieces of goldsmith's art, precious stones, and other priceless artifacts. The highlight for me was the 41-carat Dresden Green Diamond, a truly breathtaking sight. In the New Green Vault, I marveled at intricate works like the "Royal Household at Delhi on the Birthday of the Grand Mogul Aurangzeb," a miniature golden court scene with 137 figurines. The craftsmanship is simply mind-blowing. It's worth noting that visitor numbers are limited in the Historic Green Vault, so booking in advance is essential. Despite the crowds, the experience was unforgettable – a glimpse into the extravagant world of Saxon royalty that left me feeling like I'd stepped into a real-life fairy tale.
