Long Son Pagoda (Chua Long Son), Nha Trang

Perched atop a hill in Nha Trang, Long Son Pagoda is a sight to behold. As I climbed the 152 steps, the anticipation built. At the top, I was greeted by the enormous white Buddha statue, sitting serenely and overlooking the city. The statue is an impressive 24 meters high and visible from many parts of Nha Trang. The pagoda itself, built in 1886, is a beautiful example of Vietnamese Buddhist architecture. Its vibrant mosaics and intricate carvings are captivating. Inside, the air is thick with incense, and the sound of chanting monks creates a peaceful atmosphere. The views from the hilltop are breathtaking, offering a panoramic vista of Nha Trang and the surrounding countryside. I was particularly moved by the memorial to monks and nuns who self-immolated in protest. It's a sobering reminder of Vietnam's complex history. Despite the tourists, there's a sense of tranquility here that's hard to find elsewhere in the bustling city. It's a place of both historical significance and spiritual importance, making it a must-visit for anyone in Nha Trang.
