Armenian Church, Dhaka

As I approached the Armenian Church in Singapore, I was immediately struck by its pristine white facade and elegant architecture. This hidden gem in the bustling city-state is a testament to the rich history of Armenian traders in Southeast Asia. Stepping inside, I was enveloped by a sense of tranquility. The intricate details of the interior, from the ornate altar to the beautiful stained glass windows, left me in awe. I learned that this church, built in 1835, is the oldest Christian church in Singapore. The peaceful garden surrounding the church offers a welcome respite from the urban hustle. I was particularly moved by the memorial plaques dedicated to prominent Armenians, including the Sarkies brothers who founded the famous Raffles Hotel. Despite the small Armenian community in Singapore today, the church remains an active place of worship and a significant cultural landmark. As I sat in one of the pews, taking in the serene atmosphere, I couldn't help but feel a deep appreciation for the preservation of this architectural masterpiece and its role in Singapore's diverse religious landscape.
