Mt. Faito (Monte Faito), Sorrento

Perched high above the Amalfi Coast, Mt. Faito offers a breathtaking escape from the bustling coastal towns below. As I ascended via the scenic cable car from Castellammare di Stabia, the panoramic views of the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius left me awestruck. The crisp mountain air and lush vegetation were a welcome respite from the summer heat. At the summit, a network of hiking trails beckoned, leading through dense forests and open meadows. I chose a path that wound its way to a stunning viewpoint, where I could see Capri and the entire Sorrentine Peninsula stretched out before me. The silence was broken only by the occasional tinkling of cowbells from nearby pastures. For lunch, I savored local specialties at a rustic mountain restaurant, including fresh mozzarella and porcini mushrooms. As the day waned, I watched the sun set over the Mediterranean, painting the sky in vibrant hues. Mt. Faito truly feels like a hidden gem, offering natural beauty and tranquility just a stone's throw from some of Italy's most popular destinations.
