Budikovac Island (Veliki Budikovac), Dalmatia

Nestled in the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea, Budikovac Island is a hidden gem off the coast of Croatia. As I stepped onto its pristine shores, I was immediately struck by the breathtaking beauty of this small, uninhabited paradise. The island's main attraction is undoubtedly its stunning Blue Lagoon, a shallow bay with turquoise waters so clear you can see straight to the bottom. Swimming and snorkeling here feels like floating in a natural aquarium, with colorful fish darting around your feet. The beach, though pebbly, is perfect for sunbathing and relaxing. I found a quiet spot under the shade of fragrant pine trees, listening to the gentle lapping of waves. For the more adventurous, there are hiking trails that lead to panoramic viewpoints, offering spectacular vistas of the surrounding Dalmatian islands. Despite its small size, Veliki Budikovac packs a punch with its raw, unspoiled nature. There's a small seasonal beach bar where you can grab a refreshing drink, but otherwise, the island is blissfully undeveloped. It's the ideal spot for a day trip, easily accessible by boat from nearby Vis or Hvar. As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the lagoon, I found myself reluctant to leave this slice of paradise.
