Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbishan), Southern China

As I approached Elephant Trunk Hill, I was immediately struck by its uncanny resemblance to an elephant drinking from the Li River. This iconic limestone karst is truly a sight to behold, standing majestically at the confluence of the Li River and Peach Blossom River in Guilin. The hill's unique shape, with its trunk-like formation dipping into the water, is a testament to nature's artistic prowess. I was fascinated by the Water Moon Cave, a moon-shaped hole between the trunk and the main body of the hill, which creates a mesmerizing reflection in the river below. As I explored the area, I discovered ancient carvings and inscriptions dating back to the Tang Dynasty, adding a layer of historical intrigue to the natural wonder. The Puxian Pagoda atop the hill caught my eye, its silhouette adding to the overall mystical atmosphere. At night, the hill is beautifully illuminated, creating a magical scene that's reflected in the calm waters. Whether viewed from a boat on the Li River or from the nearby park, Elephant Trunk Hill is undoubtedly Guilin's most recognizable landmark and a must-see for any visitor to the region.
