Temple of the Dawn (Wat Arun), Bangkok

As I approached the Temple of the Dawn, I was immediately struck by its majestic silhouette against the Bangkok skyline. This iconic landmark, situated on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, is a sight to behold at any time of day, but it truly lives up to its name at sunrise. The temple's central prang, or Khmer-style tower, rises an impressive 70 meters high and is adorned with intricate floral mosaics made from broken Chinese porcelain. As I climbed the steep steps, I marveled at the breathtaking views of the city and river below. The temple complex itself is a serene oasis, with beautifully manicured gardens and smaller satellite prangs surrounding the main tower. Inside, I found ornate murals depicting scenes from Buddhist and Thai mythology. What struck me most was the incredible detail in the architecture – every surface seems to be covered in colorful glass and seashells, creating a dazzling effect when the sun hits just right. As the day progressed, I watched the temple transform, its appearance shifting with the changing light. Wat Arun is not just a religious site, but a testament to Thai craftsmanship and an enduring symbol of Bangkok's rich cultural heritage.
