El Tatio Geysers, San Pedro de Atacama

Visiting El Tatio Geysers was an otherworldly experience I'll never forget. Arriving before dawn, we were greeted by an eerie landscape shrouded in steam. As the sun rose, it illuminated over 80 active geysers, creating a breathtaking spectacle. The geothermal field, nestled high in the Andes at 4,320 meters above sea level, is one of the world's highest and largest. The crisp mountain air was invigorating, though the altitude made me a bit lightheaded. Walking among the bubbling pools and steaming vents felt like exploring an alien planet. The contrast of the white steam against the golden desert and blue sky was simply stunning. I was mesmerized by the rhythmic eruptions, some reaching heights of several meters. The mineral-rich waters created vibrant colors in the pools, from deep blues to rusty reds. Despite the chilly morning, some brave souls took a dip in the natural hot springs. As we left, I felt a deep appreciation for the raw power and beauty of nature, making the early wake-up call more than worth it.
