Beiteddine (Beit ed-Dine), Beirut

Nestled in the Chouf Mountains of Lebanon, Beiteddine is a breathtaking 19th-century palace that left me in awe. As I approached, the grand facade with its intricate stonework and elegant arches immediately caught my eye. Stepping inside, I was transported to a world of opulence and artistry. The stunning mosaics adorning the floors and walls are a testament to the skill of Lebanese craftsmen. I wandered through countless rooms, each more impressive than the last, marveling at the ornate ceilings and exquisite woodwork. The palace's courtyards, with their tranquil fountains and lush gardens, provided a peaceful respite. I was particularly struck by the hammam, or Turkish bath, with its beautiful marble work and domed ceiling. The museum within the palace houses a fascinating collection of Byzantine mosaics and ancient weapons. From the terraces, I enjoyed panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. Beiteddine is not just a palace; it's a living piece of Lebanese history and a testament to the country's rich cultural heritage.
