Stepping into Byblos feels like traveling back in time. This ancient Phoenician port city, one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the world, is a treasure trove of history and culture. As I wandered through the narrow streets of the old souk, the scent of spices and fresh seafood filled the air. The charming shops and cafes, housed in centuries-old stone buildings, create a magical atmosphere. The Byblos Castle, perched on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean, is a must-visit. Its walls tell stories of Crusaders and conquerors, and the view from the top is breathtaking. Near the castle, I explored the Roman amphitheater and the Phoenician royal necropolis, marveling at the layers of civilizations that have called this place home. The picturesque harbor is lined with colorful fishing boats and bustling restaurants serving fresh catches of the day. As the sun set, I enjoyed a leisurely dinner by the sea, savoring local delicacies and watching the sky turn shades of pink and orange. Byblos seamlessly blends its rich past with a vibrant present, offering visitors a unique journey through time.
