Walking along the ancient Tallinn City Wall is like stepping back in time. As I strolled atop the sturdy stone fortifications, I was struck by the incredible views of both the old town and the modern city beyond. The wall's 1.9km length is punctuated by 26 defensive towers, each with its own unique character and history. I particularly enjoyed exploring the Kiek in de Kök tower museum, which offers fascinating insights into medieval weaponry and warfare. The wall's well-preserved state is a testament to Tallinn's rich history, and I found myself imagining the city's defenders patrolling these very ramparts centuries ago. The wall's accessibility is impressive, with several sections open to the public and easily walkable. As the sun began to set, the warm glow on the limestone walls created a truly magical atmosphere. It's no wonder the Tallinn City Wall is considered one of the best-preserved medieval fortifications in Europe.
