Nestled in the highlands of northern Ethiopia, Gonder (also spelled Gondar) is a city steeped in royal history and architectural splendor. Often referred to as the "Camelot of Africa," this former imperial capital captivates visitors with its extraordinary 17th-century castles and palaces.
