The town's central square, with its charming cafes and shops, became my favorite spot to people-watch and soak in the laid-back vibe. Hiking enthusiasts will love the trails leading to Fóia, the highest peak in the Algarve, offering panoramic views that stretch all the way to the coast. The local cuisine is a delight, with hearty dishes like cozido à Monchique, a traditional stew, warming both body and soul. Monchique's blend of natural wonders, rich history, and warm hospitality make it a hidden gem in Portugal's tourist landscape.
